firefox urledit extension - faster, smarter url editing

What is urledit?

It's a firefox extension that lets you edit the URL bar. The goal is to let you easily edit those longer URLs with lots of cgi paramters.

Screencast

Download

urledit-20070701.xpi

Usage

  • Once installed, right click on the urlbar and click "Edit URL"
  • Right click on any parameter name in the editor window will let you add/delete/modify new or existing paramters
  • Clicking 'OK' will modify the URL based on the changes you made

Bugs/issues

  • Order of the parameters is not maintained after saving the new url. The new order will always be lexigraphical (alphabetic)

I like that one Jordan. Firebug is nice, but urledit is way much faster to use :) thanks a lot.

cheers,
teemu

I'd love if you could do the same thing, 'Edit URL' with links on a page.

i.e. right click on a url on a page, choose 'Edit URL' then execute the link

Looks nice. But what I'm really looking for is a way to create rules that rewrite links automatically.

For instance, if I on search site X wants to always adjust a parameter to get 50 results per page instead of 20, or if I want to create a rule to skip a redirect site, for instance http://foo.com/?url=bar.com, I could create a rule that rewrites the URL to bar.com.
