BarCampBlock- Day 1

Today was amazing, and I'm far too intoxicated (sorry, blame tonight's open-bar party) to provide a sufficient overview and summary! Sorry ;)

I will say that I have 6 pages of notes to summarize here, which will show up tomorrow, likely. I was disappointed with DemoCamp (a 2 hour segment of 5-minute-long lightning demos) today. Too many poorly presented demos; too many horribly-marketed applications. Some of the demos were great, others left me clueless as to the product's features or goals. I'll cover more later. For now, sleep.

I uploaded my pictures from today to Flickr.

Hey Jordan, great to see you again, as usual! Also good feedback -- and I'm really looking forward to your feedback on DemoCamp as this was the first time we attempted this and didn't really provide any guidelines, just to see what people might do with the short format. I think it's interesting that the demoes themselves weren't compelling -- I wonder what that says about the current environment? ;)

@Chris,

I think the format is a great idea - two hours of lightning talks/demos. I was standing the whole time, and a limit of 5 minutes per talk kept me from getting bored or tired of standing.

So, great idea, bad content? I took some notes on as many of the demos as I could, so I'll cover more tonight once I collect those notes in to thoughts and write it up :)

Jordan, it was great meeting you at the first session in the morning and talking later at the end of the party.  It's the unexpected conversations that make BarCamp so much fun.
